The Anglo-Saxon Laboratory: directions

 61 Bootham, York YO30 7BT, tel 01904-634585

 (by appointment only)

By road

Leave the A1 North at A64, signposted to York.

Leave the A64 at the A1237 (Askham Bryan) and follow the ring road over the A59 roundabout to the A19 roundabout.

Turn right on to the A19 and follow this road towards York city centre.

You will pass under a footbridge by a school. Continue past the Churchill Hotel on your left and the small park with trees also on your left. 61 Bootham is the first building on your left after the park gates.

For delivery, you can park briefly on the cobbles outside No.61.

For the nearest car-park, continue on, take the second turning on the right alongside the Abbey walls (Marygate), then the next road on the right (ignore the narrow back lanes) and park in the Marygate car-park. There is a short route by foot from the top of the car-park, up the road called ‘St Marys’, to 61 Bootham.

By foot from York station (shortcut route, less than 10 minutes)

Exit the station by the footpath that leads across the river via Scarborough rail bridge and into Marygate car-park. Follow the footpath alongside the railway line.

At the end of the path go up the steps into the street called ‘St Marys’ and continue to the road junction. Cross Bootham (the main road). Our building, 61 Bootham, is now in front of you.

Access to building

The main door is not locked during office hours. Come into the lobby and ring the bell marked ASLab. There is an intercom, and the inner security door can be unlocked from our office. If any problems, ring 01904-634585.
